The Vittoriale degli Italiani is the monumental citadel of Gabriele d'Annunzio in Gardone Riviera, one of the most visited and fascinating places on Lake Garda. A complex of buildings, lanes, squares, an open-air theatre, gardens and waterways that the poet built between 1921 and 1938 as a memorial to his life and a symbol of Italy after the First World War.
The poet's main residence, a labyrinth of rooms full of objects, books, artworks and curiosities. Each room tells the eccentric and refined personality of d'Annunzio: from the Leper's Room to the Music Hall, from the Blue Bathroom to the famous Officina.
The prow of a real warship embedded in the park hill, donated by the Navy. A unique monument that dominates the lake, symbol of the Fiume enterprise and d'Annunzio's love for the sea and Italy.
The armed torpedo motorboat with which d'Annunzio carried out the Buccari raid in 1918, one of the boldest actions of the First World War. Preserved in the Museo d'Annunzio Eroe along with relics and documents of the Fiume enterprise.
The Museo d'Annunzio Eroe recounts the military feats of the poet-soldier. The Museo d'Annunzio Segreto reveals the more intimate and private aspects of his life. Two complementary paths to discover the man and the myth.
The Amphitheatre of the Vittoriale, which can host 1,500 spectators, hosts concerts, operas and shows during the summer season. The gardens offer walks among fountains, statues, the Dancing Lake and panoramic views over the lake.
The Vittoriale is located in Gardone Riviera, 25 km from Campione del Garda (about 35 minutes by car). Open all year round. Tel. +39 0365 296511. Note: the Mausoleum and Auditorium are closed for restoration until March 2026.
